A Public Service Announcement from Me.

Friday, June 20, 2008, 09:20 PM EST [General]

On the first day, God created the
    dog and said:

'Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks
past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.'

The dog said: 'That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and
I'll give you back the other ten?'

    So God agreed.

On the second day, God created the monkey and said:

'Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a
    twenty-year life span.'

The monkey said: 'Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to
perform. How about I give you back ten like the Dog did?'

    And God agreed.

On the third day, God created the cow and said:

'You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the
sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will
give you a life span of sixty years.'

The cow said: 'That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years.
How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?'

    And God agreed again.

On the fourth day, God created man and said:

'Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty
    years.'

But man said: 'Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the
forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten
the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?'

'Okay,' said God, 'You asked for it.'

So that is why for our first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy
ourselves. For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family.
For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And
for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.

Life has now been explained to you.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. I'm doing it as a
    public service.

Thanks DD for a vote of confidence...

Wednesday, June 18, 2008, 08:57 AM EST [General]

For the L&T morning show. Thanks, but no thanks. I know you're doing a fantastic PR job for Clearchannel and its choices, but we will have to agree to disagree.

While the BS may not have been the best morning show that was out there, as exhibited by "ratings, performance" etc, but its replacement is an insult to my intelligence. Mayhaps this show thrives in come podunk markets that enjoy these juvenile antics, but I will not give this assjackery the time of day, much less a month. My time, as precious as it is, is excruciatingly valuable - and I gave them a genuine try. I listened to the past two complete shows and did my best not to vomit. I settled for sitting in mute shock and revulsion.

The "intellectually immature nonsense" of the BS show was at the very least locally relevant, and much props to Ethan for giving his Quick Takes between L&Ts assishness for that. I think its naive for a corporation to believe that a listener base will have any attachment to a pair of Texassholes that crank calls non-profit organizations - something that only the dregs of society might think is funny.

Perhaps L&T are a band-aid fix until a better morning show can be comprised of familiar voices that people know, faces they've seen and has helped their existing community - until then, 98 Rock has lost one more morning listener - not that Clear Channel will  notice or care about.  Thanks again, DD for taking a personal moment to try and reassure your listeners, as well as Rig for reiterating his vote of confidence. I'll turn the station on at 10, when Rig comes on.

    Does size really matter?

This is only the first part - the full 4 minute short is available on Netflix Instant. It gave me a good giggle.
