If you haven't taken the time to watch "Planet Earth" in HD on the discorvery channel, it's quite remarkable.  Last night they showed some great footage of great white sharks jumping to kill seals.  Here's a little snippet and another cool video of some austrailians catching a great white on shore.

I know that I am a little late on reviewing a movie from 2 years ago... but my Fiance was begging me to see this "Pursuit of Happiness" movie with Will Smith.  If your memory doesn't lend itself to conjuring this happiless flick, it's about a inner city guy, with a bitch wife, cute kid and no cash trying to make it as a stock broker.   I had a feeling it would suck, because I don't like watching movies that stress me out and make me feel hopeless.  Granted, the movie does end with him succeeding, but only after 1 hour, 51 minutes, and 33 seconds of "hack your penis off with a dull pair of scissors" kind of depression.  Anything that could go wrong, went wrong and thank god for the vodka tonics that carried me through the experience.

It has become apparent to me that my Fiance and I have been lying to each other about what movies we like.  For 2 1/2 years, we have put up with each others cinematic favorites and we have now hit the wall... neither of us want to watch each others crap.  I hate sentimental movies that make you witness trials and tribulations that fall upon us all, to then eventually be thwarted in a blissful final five minutes.  And of course I loath the romantic comedy or romantic tragedy like "Stepmom", "Message in a Bottle", and "Please, Honey... Shoot My Face Of" (actually, that's on old favorite).  Now she hates anything dark and that pretty much defines my whole collection of DVD's.  "Fight Club", "The Ususal Suspects", "Star Wars- Episode Anyone", and any great thriller/horror movie or action/war movie. 

Fortunately, we have found a solution to this finally communicated entertainment issue for us both... we moved into a bigger apartment and now have 2 TV rooms!  Let the battle of surround sounds systems begin!!!  Between the thunderous booms eminating from my violent thrillers and the piercing tweeters shrilling the crys of her tragic dramas...our new neighbors should love us.
